Stefan

Age 32, born in Rotterdam on 17 June 1971.

Before the journey, Stefan was working as an auditor with PricewaterhouseCoopers, of which the last 2 years were spent in Singapore. Sailing around the world has always been his dream, therefore it is an excellent opportunity to change from the hectic lifestyle in Singapore to the more mundane one in The Netherlands.

He has been in and out of the water during his entire life and experienced sailing in all kinds of boats possible. He gets excited by everything that goes fast, high or is otherwise thrilling. A sailing yacht with a maximum speed of 9 knots doesn’t really meet this description, but sailing such enormous distances on the immense ocean is definitely a challenge!

He loves physically demanding activities, but could also be lost in a book for hours. He is looking forward very much to the peace and quietness during long passages and the unknown world that’s awaiting him.

Stefan is not afraid to take a certain amount of (calculated) risk and when things do go wrong, he generally is more optimistic than most people. Always finds a solution to solve problems, his dexterity and creativity come in handy on a boat, where there is always something that needs fixing.
